Alcohol and Other Drugs

Nexus Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) service helps you if Alcohol and other drugs affect the way you want to live your life. This service is free and confidential. Our counsellors will make a program to suit your needs.

You can use our service if you:

• Live in Mitchell or Murrindindi Shires
• Work in Mitchell or Murrindindi Shires
• Study in Mitchell or Murrindindi Shires
• Spend a lot of time in Mitchell or Murrindindi Shires

• Harm minimisation
• Reduction techniques
• Education of health effects of alcohol and other drugs.
• Using residential detox and rehabilitation services
• Maintaining abstinence
• Age specific Alcohol and other Drug Services.
  

We have a number of programs that can help you:

• Counselling and Recovery Services can give you intensive support
• Our youth AOD Worker can help young people between the ages of 12-25 years
• We can provide clean Needle and Syringe packs at our Broadford Office.

What to expect

You can call us with a referral, or your GP can send us our referral. We will call you after we get your referral.

We will do an assessment with you. We will make a plan together about how to help you when you are a client of Nexus.

We will help you for as long as you need. You need to work with us so we can help you.

We might talk to you about different supports that might help you. You can decide what will work best for you.

You can use this service by:

• Calling us on 1300 77 33 52 and ask for the Alcohol and other Drug Team (AoD Team).
• Asking your GP to write you a referral
