Issuing of Prescriptions

Prescriptions will not be issued without a consultation with your GP.

ePrescribing

An electronic prescription is a digital version of a paper prescription.  ePrescribing is a faster, more secure and an accurate way to transmit prescription and dispensing data between your GP and Pharmacist.  

How does it work?

• Ask you GP for an electronic prescription either during a Telehealth or in person consultation
• Your script will be sent as a “token” (unique QR code) to you via SMS or email (please check your mobile number is correct with the GP)
• Show your eScript token to the Pharmacist to have it scanned to collect your medication

Some pharmacists will allow you to forward your ePrescription to a mobile number to save you waiting time at the chemist.  Please ask your chemist if this service is available.

What if I want a printed script?

If you prefer a printed script, the barcode will be printed on the bottom of your script or a QR code at the top of the prescription.  Your pharmacist will then scan the barcode
