Health promotion is about creating a healthier community

We support groups with healthy eating and physical activity options.

We can help groups, like:

• Schools
• Neighbourhood Houses
• Sports Clubs and Leisure Centres
• Other Community Groups
• Individual Community Members
  

We can help you:

• To set up an idea you have to help the community be healthy.
• To promote your ideas
• To write policies and procedures.
• To find useful information
• To help you talk to organisations that have similar ideas
• Find and write grants help make your idea happen.
  

We have been involved in lots of projects, like;

• Community gardens
• Kitchen gardens
• Healthy canteens in schools and sports clubs
• Walking and running groups
• Healthy eating and physical activity events.
• The RESPOND Project. This is a project about creating healthy and happy children. We work really closely with the community on this project. This project is overseen by Deakin University.
  

Nexus also supports our staff’s physical and mental health through the Healthier Nexus Project. Healthier Nexus’ initiatives make it easier for staff to eat healthy and be active. We want to lead by example for our community

What to expect

We can work with you and your community to make healthy changes. It can take time before we can see a change, but every small change counts. We are here to support those changes.

We can talk to you in our office, or we can come to you. No idea is too big or too small.

Our team has a range of different qualifications and experience. including:

• Allied Health
• Health promotion
• Experience in the disability sector
• Local community experience

You don't need a referral for Health Promotion. You can call us on 1300 77 33 52 to talk to our Health Promotion Officer.
