Occupational Therapy - Children

Helping your child participate in all activities in their daily life.

The Nexus Children’s Occupational Therapy team have specific knowledge and skills in the areas of child and adolescent development and offer services to children from birth to 17 years.

We assist and support the development of children’s skills in the areas of self-care, learning and play. By supporting children to achieve their maximum potential, our occupational therapists develop confidence, self-esteem, social skills and well-being in the children that they see.

These include difficulties: 

  • Gross motor delays including challenges throwing, catching, running and walking.
  • Fine motor delays such as grasping, hand strength and hand dominance.
  • With attention/concentration.
  • With pencil grasp and handwriting.
  • Sensory processing.
  • With self-care tasks including brushing teeth and dressing.
  • With toilet training.
  • Sleep issues.
  • Fussy eating.
  • Playing with toys, imaginary play, taking turns or sharing.
  • Socially; including playing alone or making friends.
  • Managing emotions.
  • Learning.
  • Has a diagnosed disability (intellectual, neurological, physical and development delay).
